Printing with Magnetic Plates

This is a new relief printing technique by cutting out shapes from sheet magnet as printing plates.  The magnet sheets are placed on a thin sheet of steel to keep them in place.  With this setup, one can employ linoleum cut, monotype and soft point technique for producing relief prints.

Class Date: Nov. 6, 2024 and Nov. 8, 2024, 5pm to 8pm

Class Length: 2 day class 3hr each

Prerequisites: Basic concept of relief printing.

Enrollment Maximum: 6

Class Cost: $175

Materials Fee per Student: $10 for material

Line Etching at the Graphic Arts Workshop

Have you ever wondered what an etching is and how they are made?  This two day class will introduce the process of hard-ground line etching and is suitable for people with no printmaking experience.  This class is appropriate for those with no previous printmaking experience.

Class Date: Tues and Wed., Nov 19, 2024 and 20, 2024, 6-9pm.

Enrollment Min/Max: 4-8

Class Cost: $150

Material Fee Per Student: $25 for plates, inks and paper.

Silkscreen At Graphic Arts Workshop

One Color Screenprinting Workshop – taught by Cass Macgowan
July 10th, 6PM to 9PM
Cost: 75$

Learn to make a one color screenprint using an original drawing! This workshop will introduce you to the basics of exposing a screen and printing screen prints. Participants will be expected to draw a design – please note that we do not have the capacity to print digital designs. Prints will be on provided poster paper, and participants have the option to bring fabric items such as t-shirts to print on.

Cass Macgowan is an artist and printmaker based in the SanFrancisco Bay Area. They learned DIY screenprinting at Tamalpais High Schooland went on to major in Printmaking at the Maryland Institute College of Art. They have worked for Highpoint Center for Screenprinting and helped produce Dyani Whitehawk’s screenprinted “Takes Care of Them” fine art edition. They currently print at the Graphic Arts Workshop and assist with DIY printing around the Bay Area.
