Diane Foug, Leslie Lowinger, and Sarah Newton

Gallery Hours Fridays and Saturdays / noon – 5:00 p.m.
Reception Saturday, September 26 / 4:00–6:00 p.m.

Artists approach printmaking in individual ways. The development of a print can be linear—a series of “state proofs” until the final result is achieved—or a plate might be editioned, reworked, editioned again, cut up, layered, and painted on, thus new forms found with each iteration. This show of proofs and variations is a contrast of three artists’ working methods.

Diane Foug is a San Francisco based fine artist specializing in sculpture and works on paper. Before changing her focus to fine art, Diane worked as a graphic and product designer. She has just recently begun exhibiting around the Bay Area.

Leslie Lowinger is an artist living in San Francisco. Themes in her work can include money, power (or the lack of), and the role of chance.

Sarah Newton is a San Francisco artist who first studied etching at CCSF, received a printmaking degree from California College of the Arts, and has collaborated on print and book projects with the San Francisco Center for the Book. Sarah’s other works on paper have been included in New American Paintings, and she recently had a fellowship residency at Playa artist residency in Oregon.
