Karen Towne

Born in Long Beach, California, and now residing in Marin County, Karen Towne has spent a lot of time driving back and forth between northern and southern California, sketching and painting the many varieties of landscapes along the way. Following a long tradition of landscape painting in California, she brings that inspiration to her work in the medium of woodcut. She is a long time member of both the Graphic Arts Workshop and the California Society of Printmakers. Her woodcut, Cloud’s Rest, was selected to be in the 2011 Yosemite Renaissance show, an exhibit originating at the Yosemite Museum. The woodcut Pinnacles is in the collection of the Library of Congress.

The prints are all woodcuts hand-colored with watercolor.
