This class explores experimental and unconventional methods for creating layered and multi-colored prints using unconventional tools, materials and processes. We will explore ways to combine monotype printing, relief stamping, stenciling and transfer techniques, drawing and more. Level: Beginner to Advanced.

$250. tuition (minimum 7 people – maximum 10)

Biography:

Sandra Kelch is an Oakland-based artist and academic. Born in New York, she received her BFA from The Cooper Union, her MFA from the Cranbrook Academy and a Ph.D. in Arts Practice from the Australian National University. She currently teaches at the University of San Francisco’s Art + Architecture department, and has taught at the California College of the Arts, the University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University and the Kala Art Institute. Her artwork has been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums including the International Print Center New York, the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, the Turner Print Museum, California Modern Gallery, Intersection for the Arts, the Berkeley Art Center, Jen Tough Gallery and Kala Art Institute Gallery. Sandra’s awards include the Artspan Selections Award, and a Juror’s Award from Gearbox Gallery. She has been an artist in residence at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center and the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley. Sandra is a member of the California Society of Printmakers.
